摘要: In a country such as India, popularly known for its rich diversity and traditions, chewing tobacco many other forms is commonly practised entity. The resultant of this leads to oral submucous fibrosis (OSMF) which causes permanent morbidity in the form trismus also can lead potential possibility cancer. Intra injections steroids hyaluronidase placentrex have been postulated by studies. But study was done evaluate efficacy both these used treatment modalities. A 1 year hospital based performed over 30 patients diagnosed be having submucosal fibrosis. They were randomly given injection placentrex. addition this, routine haemogram inter incisor distance measured before after along with histopathological lesions. With prevalence 0.31%, males out numbered females. Majority their third decade. All chewed one or 90% them presented burning sensation mouth. mean our 3.1%. cases anaemic two thirds had an elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate serum globulin level. More than half absolute eosinophil count. biopsy specimens showed atrophic mucosa subepithelial dense collagenised fibrous tissue. group who treated slightly better results corticosteroids. not statistically significant although clinically they noteworthy. Being silent, chronic disease, affects most productive population fraction causing acts precursor Since etiological agent areacnut other, considerable efforts made sensitizing workforce nation at community level understanding ill effects tobacco. Understanding associated conditions anaemia, rate, globulins count should prompt otolaryngologist treating holistically. Though yielded improvement distance, steroid comparable no statistical significance. Hence, keeping premalignant nature screening promptly on time would reduction caused disease. Coupled health education, could even more encouraging.
