摘要: [1] A new improved algorithm has been developed to geolocate intense lightning flashes around the globe. The method uses ELF (extremely low frequency) radiation propagated in Earth-ionosphere cavity locate unusually strokes. Two parameters are needed discharge from a single station: bearing and source-observer distance (SOD). was obtained using Poynting vector (E × H), while SOD on basis of modeling electric magnetic spectra comparison with experimental data. To check accuracy our algorithm, we used primarily infrared cloud top temperature images deep convective storms geostationary satellites (METEOSAT, GOES, GMS). Analysis data field station 147 events gave an average error 660 km (7.05%) azimuth 1.9°. Of events, 72% had positive polarity, majority (59%) occurred over oceans.
