摘要: Very sharp Bragg reflections accompanied by diffuse scattering phenomena are typical for most stable quasicrystals. The correlation length of the quasiperiodic average structure can reach several micrometers as proved high-resolution X-ray diffraction experiments. This corresponds to a structural perfection some quasicrystals similar that silicon. Nevertheless, omnipresent indicates significant deviations from strictly ordered especially in case decagonal phases. These may be caused phason fluctuations, disorder packing basic atomic clusters, formation nanodomains, chemical disorder, or superstructure on short-range scale. Characteristic examples different types present icosahedral and reported. Al-Co-Ni function composition temperature discussed more detail.
