摘要: PURPOSE: To examine the ophthalmologic experience with shaken baby syndrome (SBS) at one medical center, including clinical findings, autopsy and visual outcome of survivors. METHODS: One hundred sixteen patients admitted from 1987 to 1998 for subdural hematomas brain secondary abuse were included. RESULTS: Retinal hemorrhages detected in 84% children, but this important finding had been missed often by nonophthalmologists. Poor response, poor pupillary retinal hemorrhage correlated strongly demise child. child who died pigmented scars previous abuse, a condition not previously observed histopathologically. The findings varied somewhat, probably because differing conditions examination. No correlation could be made between computerized tomography scans done during life optic nerve found on autopsy. Half surviving known have good vision. fourth vision, largely due cerebral impairment bilateral injury posterior chiasm.
