摘要: Floods are the most frequent natural disasters, representing approximately 35% of total number reported disasters worldwide. They may affect human health through either direct or indirect pathways, resulting in various impacts whose magnitude, at population level, will depend on characteristics floods as well environmental, economic, and social contexts areas which these occur. Direct mainly consist deaths injuries acute phase – flash floods. Epidemics emerge pathways; examples include disruption water sanitation infrastructures overcrowding leading to waterborne respiratory diseases, environmental changes producing vector- rodent-borne disease transmissions. Other effects mental problems worsening chronic conditions due care access medication. This article cover light lessons evidence gathered past decades about different types socioeconomic contexts, apply evidences for improving mitigation preparedness among vulnerable populations.
