摘要: Previous studies have demonstrated a correlation between the ability of isolates Yersinia enterocolitica to cause disease and invade tissue culture cells in vitro. Two genes, inv ail, isolated from pathogenic strain Y. each been shown confer this invasive phenotype upon Escherichia coli. Eighty pathogenic, studied by Miller et al. (Infect. Immun. 57:121-131, 1989) contained sequences homologous both these genes. Thirty-five nonpathogenic, noninvasive similarly had no ail homology but carried inv-homologous sequences. We investigated four nonpathogenic isolates. Recombinant clones did not E. No RNA transcripts capable encoding full-length Inv protein were detected strains. When gene isolate was introduced into two strains, resulting transformants invaded The transcribed grown at 30 degrees C all 37 C. production regulated temperature same degree as seen for conclude that strains is nonfunctional. epidemiologically linked contain functional gene.
