摘要: The theta-logistic model of density regulation is an especially flexible class models where different forms non-linear can be expressed by only one parameter, θ. Estimating the parameters is, however, challenging. This mainly due to need for information concerning population growth at low densities as well data on fluctuations around carrying capacity K in order estimate strength regulation. Here we 28 populations three species birds that have grown from very small sizes followed a period K. We then use these quasi-stationary distribution size. There were often large uncertainties specifying form generally independent duration study period. In contrast, precision estimates environmental variance increased with length time series. most populations, proportion probability (quasi-) stationary was located intermediate relative Thus, suggest represents useful summary statistic many cases provides more robust characterisation basic dynamics (e.g. range variation or spent close K) than obtained analyses single parameters.
