摘要: CHRISTIAN B. DANE Examining the Relationship between Procedural Justice and Recidivism in a Jail-Based Residential Substance Abuse Treatment Program (Under direction of DR. LISA MUFTIC) Research has found support for effectiveness procedural justice, specifically perceived fairness, gaining compliance from people with respect to police courts (Sunshine & Tyler, 2003; 1984; 2001). Further, research examined jail-based residential substance abuse treatment (RSAT) programs reducing recidivism offenders problems (Bahr, Harris, Strobell, Taylor, 2012; Eisenberg Fabelo, 1996; Hiller, Knight, Simpson, 1999). However, yet test whether justice can impact multiple incarcerations. The major focus this Master’s thesis was examine 78 participants 90-day RSAT program known as Starting Recovery Today (START) were less likely be rearrested after release jail if they felt treated fairly by staff. Bivariate analyses conducted on survey data official criminal records. findings suggest that fairness staff not related post-program recidivism. Moreover, results indicate more extensive histories recidivate. Recommendations future implications are discussed.
