摘要: Abstract The influence of substrate topography and interfacial polymerization (IP) conditions were investigated during the fabrication patterned thin-film composite (TFC) membranes. Aromatic semi-aromatic polyamide layers formed atop ultrafiltration (UF) membrane supports by IP using different concentrations m-phenylenediamine (MPD) or piperazine (PIP) in water 0.01–2% w/v with a fixed concentration trimesoyl chloride hexane 0.1% w/v. For all evaluated, TFC membranes regular surface patterns achieved maintaining amine soaking time reaction within 120 s. Importantly, was determined to be independent time. Characterization morphological details suggests non-conformal growth barrier layer on UF substrates. Results indicate that extent such can reduced decreasing as well choosing an monomer PIP produces thinner layer. overall findings this study provide means for achieving desired features specific applications.
