摘要: This essay argues that the influence of Johannine theology on George Herbert’s poetry has been neglected in Herbert criticism, partly because critics tend to assume Pauline is proper theological frame for much religious verse. I argue several well-regarded poems conform a distinctly poetics emphasizes divinity Christ, realized eschatology, and, terms style, rhetoric productive misunderstanding and irony.
