Estudo piloto : comparação da avaliação estética facial entre leigos, estudantes e profissionais de medicina dentária

摘要: Introduction: Facial aesthetics is an important factor for orthodontic diagnosis. However, it difficult to define the goal of treatment only based on aesthetic profile, since there not one facial profile credited entire world population as aesthetically attractive, because each individual has his own concept beauty, which related several factors. This study aims at obtaining specific and updated data, regarding attractiveness Portuguese caucasians individuals. It intended assess impact mandibular prominence, asymmetry, lip lower height, determine threshold where they become clinically significant relevant different groups, these characteristics by gender history treatment. Methods: We manipulate photographs a male female, considered normal according current standards, increasing decreasing features under study, with aim creating album randomly organized photos, was distributed 30 dentists, dental students UCP laypeople. Each assessed photograph in 100 mm visual analog scale. Results: found that sample chosen most attractive straight both genders, severe protrusion, retrusion, height decreased asymmetry were less genders. laypeople are critical professionals. also no difference influence gender.
