摘要: We investigate devices fabricated using a step junction technique, which is simple fabrication method to build electrodes with average gap width of 10/spl sim/20 nm only micro-fabrication. 1,4-benzenedimethane-thiols(xylyl-dithiol; XYL) are self-assembled onto this nanoscale (sacrificial junction) and connected in series by 20 gold clusters (GC). Since the size some believed be locally as small single molecule dimension due variations fabrication, another sample (titanium was prepared XYL molecules bridge gap. The current-voltage characteristic measured these structures, compared tunneling current before molecular deposition. conductance sacrificial increased yield 30% after forming molecule/cluster/molecule bridge, while lower (/spl sim/5%) observed for molecule-only devices. Temperature dependent measurement performed on titanium devices, indicate that conduction via tunneling.
