摘要: Abstract The mechanical properties of young stems Aristolochia macrophylla and brasiliensis have been studied. characteristic phenomenon a biphasic stress–strain behaviour in tension, together with pronounced viscoelasticity strain hardening, was observed. changes the during plants development were quantified underlying structural stem anatomy, cellulose microfibril orientation lignin content. modulus elasticity rises Ar. from about 10 MPa shoots to 3000 fully differentiated 400 MPa. It demonstrated that this increase early is due complementary effects cell wall material, lignification, orientation. conserved throughout as general characteristic. A detailed micromechanical model, considering internal prestresses, proposed.
