摘要: Several neutron beams that could be used for capture therapy at MITR-II are dosimetrically characterized and their suitability the treatment of glioblastoma multiforme other types tumors described. The studied are: 1) those filtered by various thicknesses cadmium, D2O, 6Li, bismuth; 2) epithermal achieved filtration with aluminum, sulfur, bismuth. Measured dose vs. depth data presented in polyethylene phantom references to what can expected brain. results indicate both useful therapy. first type have good therapeutic advantage depths (approximately 5 cm) excellent in-phantom ratios background dose. Such would treating located relatively shallow On hand, second superior (greater than 6 ratios. beams, when along bilateral irradiation schemes, able treat any Numerical examples these using RBEs, fractionated-dose delivery, unilateral, paper. Finally, additional plans further beam development discussed.
