摘要: Driving on the unfamiliar side of road contributes to tourist accidents and may deter self-driving tourists from travelling certain countries. Experienced drivers usually drive “autopilot” but under circumstances, might generate instructions avoid behaviour. Previous research has revealed that avoidant can sometimes cause behaviour in unintended direction (i.e., “ironic” behaviour). This study examined effect do not drift towards centreline) while driving high cognitive load. Participants (8 males, 9 females) drove simulated roads neutral instructions, with or without a secondary task, control roadworks scenarios. Avoidant did lead ironic (doing what one been instructed do) were associated overcompensatory behaviour—driving further centreline compared instructions. Overcompensatory effects present when task scenario. The findings suggest dangerous behaviours. Further work needs be undertaken given other contexts like physiological fatigue.
