摘要: Abstract Background The onset of cystic fibrosis-related diabetes (CFRD) exacerbates lung function decline and increases mortality. One pathway that may worsen the dysfunction associated with CFRD is receptor for advanced glycation end products (RAGE) its ligands. Methods Human plasma was obtained from age-matched healthy, CF patients. Plasma RAGE ligands (i.e. products, S100A12, high-mobility group protein B1) soluble (sRAGE) levels were measured. Results patients had elevated AGEs S100A12. Soluble RAGE, a ligand decoy receptor, not significantly different between groups. AGE S100A12 negative correlations FEV 1 . Conclusions are in correlate negatively did have significant sRAGE, suggesting there be heightened binding activation exacerbating proinflammatory pathways.
