The role of psychological factors in the perpetuation of pain intensity and disability in people with chronic shoulder pain: a systematic review.

摘要: Introduction Chronic shoulder pain is a very complex syndrome, and the mechanisms involved in its perpetuation remain unclear. Psychological factors appear to play role of symptoms people with chronicity. The purpose this systematic review examine psychological (pain intensity disability) chronic pain. Methods analysis A search was performed on PubMed, AMED, CINAHL, PubPsych EMBASE from inception July 2017. Longitudinal studies quantitative designs analysing intensity, disability or both were included. methodological quality included evaluated an adapted version Newcastle Ottawa Scale. level evidence per outcome examined using Grading Recommendations Assessment, Development Evaluation approach. Results total 27 articles sample 11 176 risk bias ranges 7/21 13/21 across studies. low. High levels self-efficacy, resilience expectations recovery significantly associated low disability. Inversely, high emotional distress, depressive symptoms, anxiety, preoperative concerns, fear-avoidance beliefs, somatisation catastrophising Discussion Our results suggest that may influence disability, evidence. meta-analysis not carried out due heterogeneity so should be interpreted caution.
