摘要: Tamoxifen has been shown to decrease the recurrence rate of breast cancer. Evidence that tamoxifen use may be associated with an increased risk endometrial cancer caused investigators recommend routine invasive sampling. We have assessed a minimally alternative for surveillance tamoxifen-treated patients utilizing transvaginal ultrasound and saline infusion sonohysterography. Asymptomatic women (n = 44) on postoperative treatment were referred our gynecological unit. Initially, echo was measured unenhanced ultrasound. If distinct < or 5 mm, no further procedure performed. For thickened inadequately visualized echoes, sonohysterography thin noted sonohysterography, focal changes detected, hysteroscopy/dilatation curettage (DC seven had endometria typical tamoxifen-induced subendometrial changes: polypoid thickening confirmed by hysteroscopy/D&C. Histology revealed carcinoma two, proliferation in one four polyps. Five echoes symmetrically single-layer measurements three proliferative, inactive hyperplastic. In nine unsuccessful hysteroscopy/D&C six, Our paradigm evaluating response is concluded overcome shortcomings either blind biopsy alone while it kept number sampling procedures 55% (24 out 44).
