摘要: Beginning in the early 1950s, data from neutron monitors placed taxonomy of cosmic ray temporal variations on a firm footing, extended observations Sun as transient source high energy particles and laid foundation our concepts heliosphere. The first major impact arrival Space Age 1957 understanding rays came spacecraft operating beyond confines magnetosphere. These new showed that Forbush decreases were caused by interplanetary disturbances not changes geomagnetic field; existence both predicted solar wind magnetic field was confirmed; revealed frequent energetic ions electrons 10–100 MeV range; number new, low-energy particle populations discovered. Neutron monitor great value interpreting many these results.
