摘要: The first recorded use of hydraulic lime in construction can be traced back to at least two thousand years ago. Hydraulic lime, produced through either adding pozzolanic materials or calcining clay containing limestone, unlike air set and harden under water, developing strength initial hydration reaction subsequent carbonation. After WWII Portland cement mortars had almost completely replaced based modern construction. However, conservation specialist the benefits are becoming increasingly recognised. To support wider usage these there is a need for systematic study on mortar properties structural performance mortared masonry. This thesis presents findings from research programme conducted develop understanding mechanical natural (NHL) brickwork. work focussed flexural NHL A variety material environmental factors, including grade supplier, mix proportion, sand type age, have been investigated. In addition has completed an in-depth influence brick absorption characteristics bond development. methods wall panel wrench testing establish compared. strength, shear compressive brickwork also greater developed this work. Performance related constituent factors. Recommendations design provided.
