摘要: It has been reported that when photorespiration is suppressed by raising the concentration of CO{sub 2}, expression chloroplast glutamine synthetase (GS2) gene in pea leaves reduced (Plant Cell, 1, 241). We have examined this effect barley (Hordeum vulgare), and confirm plants grown continuously 0.8% or transferred to such conditions after growth air, appear a GS2 mRNA abundance. However, we were unable detect any significant difference extractable activity, change amount protein (judged Western blots). Whatever controls are operating on gS2 response changes external they do not affect activity enzyme barley.
