摘要: Amphipathic carboxylates collectively defined as peroxisome proliferators (PP) induce in rodents a pleiotropic effect, mediated by the proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPAR alpha). Treatment with PP results hypolipidemia, proliferation and liver hypertrophy hyperplasia leading to non-genotoxic hepatocarcinogenesis. In contrast rodents, hypolipidemic effect exerted humans is not accompanied nor induction of peroxisomal beta-oxidation or other activities induced rodents. Non-responsiveness may be ascribed missing component PPAR transduction pathway specifically involved transcriptional modulation chromosomal responsive genes. Hence, biological effects human are likely independent alpha.
