摘要: The IEEE 802.11 standard for wireless local area networks (WLANs) employs a medium access control (MAC), called distributed coordination function (DCF), which is based on carrier sense multiple with collision avoidance (CSMA/CA). mechanism utilizes the random backoff prior to each frame transmission attempt. nature of reduces probability, but cannot completely eliminate collisions. It known that throughput performance WLAN significantly compromised as number stations increases. In this paper, we propose novel reservation-based MAC protocol, early announcement (EBA), backward compatible legacy DCF. Under EBA, station announces its future information in terms slots via header being transmitted. All receiving avoid collisions by excluding same duration when selecting their value. Through extensive simulations, EBA found achieve significant increase well higher degree fairness compared
