摘要: Vortex Induced Vibration (VIV) of a circular cylinder in steady flow is reduced using distributed surface roughness. VIV reduction needed numerous applications where destructive. Roughness to the form sandpaper strips achieve three goals: (1) Trip separation controlled manner so that some uncertainties are removed and becomes more predictable. (2) Reduce spanwise correlation, which strongly linked VIV. (3) Select roughness grit size first goal without energizing too much boundary layer, would induce higher vorticity circulation, consequently lift. Our experiments show it possible reduce amplitude synchronization range. More tests full suppression. conducted TrSL2 TrSL3 regimes.Copyright © 2008 by ASME
