Epidemiology and outcomes of traumatic dental injuries: a review of the literature

摘要: Dental trauma is a significant public health problem because of its frequency, impact on economic productivity and quality life. It not disease no individual ever at zero risk sustaining these potentially life-changing injuries. The aim this article was to review the literature prevalence, incidence, aetiology, prognosis outcomes dental trauma. importance standardized reporting, oral policy, adjunctive research methods, prevention education will also be discussed. A search for relevant articles appearing in databases such as Medline, Cochrane SSCI formed basis review. Epidemiological studies indicate annual incidence globally about 4.5%. Approximately one-third children toddlers (primary teeth) one-fifth adolescents adults (permanent sustained traumatic injury. majority involved maxillary central incisors, mainly from falls home contact sport adolescents. Despite trends, there considerable variation between within across jurisdictions. There need standardize with consistent approach classification methodology. This improve form greater predicting prognosis. assist consent clinical management.
