摘要: The accumulation of nitrate in closed marine systems presents a problem for both the life and environment. present study, proposes application ion exchange membrane bioreactor (IEMB) concept removing from systems, such as aquaculture tanks or aquariums. results obtained demonstrate that IEMB was able to remove naturally accumulated water taken public aquarium (Oceanario de Lisboa) bioconvert it, an isolated compartment (biocompartment), molecular nitrogen, thus preventing secondary contamination treated by microbial cells, metabolic by-products excess carbon source (ethanol). This system allowed removal at concentrations 251 380 mg/l down below 27 exchanging it chloride. Under studied operating conditions, proves be selective technology preserving initial composition with respect cations, due Donnan exclusion effect membrane, minimizing counter diffusion anions other than chloride, use same ionic biocompartment. is advantage concept, since quality produced would allow reutilisation aquarium, thereby reducing wastewater volume fresh water.
