Post-thyroidectomy hematoma : a rare but potentially fatal complication

摘要: Background/ objectives: Post-thyroidectomy he-matoma is a rare but fatal complication of thy-roidectomy. The incidence hematoma has dropped to less than 2-3% due better preoper-ative preparation & major refinements in surgical techniques. Setting: Department ENT, Head Neck Sur-gery, KVG Medical College, Sullia. Case report: We report case post- thyroidec-tomy an elective surgery done for large thyroid. occurred 15 minutes after was managed success-fully under general anaesthesia. Intervention: Urgent evacuation the hemato-ma anaesthesia bleeders were re-ligated. 2 pints A+ blood transfused. Conclusion: leading airway obstruction complica-tion which needs emergency management. Post-operative care include attention drain, careful monitoring recovery room ap-preciation subtle signs respiratory distress. So every thyroidectomy can bleed cause complication. Prevention early in-tervention avoid complications.
