摘要: Samples of free-living corals Favia gravida (Scleractinia: Faviidae) have been studied. They were collected from an intertidal rock pool on Ascension Island, southern Atlantic Ocean. consist phaceloid clusters corallites that appear to be able easily break apart each other by the formation slits inbetween them, which indicates occurrence asexual reproduction fragmentation. The base fragments is usually tapering or conical and covered epitheca. Small some specimens suggest also reproduce budding. By not depending a solid substratum for reproduction, utterly adapted free mode life. These traits reported before Favia, normally consists massive corals. variable shape at hand indicate they adopted plastic growth form appears confined habitat.
