摘要: Impairment of the lacrimal glands after external radiation has been well documented, but there are only a few reports on effects radioiodine therapy glands. Long-term high-dose tear secretion have not previously studied. We investigated 175 eyes 88 patients with history for thyroid carcinoma (68 females, 20 males; mean age 55±16 years, range 17–81 years) and compared them sex- age-matched control group (n=39). All had given at least 2.96 GBq iodine-131 (maximal administered activity 22.3 131I). An ophthalmological investigation was performed 64±71 months (range 3–317 months) initial by single ophthalmologist. Lacrimal gland function evaluated three different tests. External eye morphology considered, detailed history-taking performed. Patients factors known to affect (contact lenses, autoimmune disorders, additional exposure) were excluded from study. A total 81 (92%) one abnormal test indicating impaired function. Schirmer's decreased (<10 mm/5 min) in 47 definitely (<5 35 patients. film break-up time <10 s found 78 patients, 62 <5 s. The lipid layer 43 tests all significantly altered study as controls (P<0.005, P<0.001, respectively). Both subjective symptoms dry (P<0.01) changes (P<0.001) more prevalent group. Our findings suggest that majority may be permanently therapy. layers involved is pronounced long-term effect stability.
