摘要: Cesarean sections are rising all over the world and may, in some countries, soon become most common delivery mode. A growing body of medical literature documents a robust fact: women undergoing cesarean end up having less children. Unlike literature, which assumes that this association is mostly working through physiological channel, we investigate possible channel linking c-section subsequent fertility differences maternal behavior after c-section. Using several national cross-national demographic data sources, find evidence choice playing an important role shaping negative between section fertility. In particular, show more likely to engage active contraception conclude intentional avoidance pregnancies seems be responsible for part c-sections
