摘要: Digital video is the most interesting of all multimedia data. However, there a price to pay — it requires maximum bandwidth for transmission, and large space storage. For example, if you want transmit digital television color (with frame size 720×480) through network in real time at rate 60 frame/sec, would require about 497 million (=720*480*60*24) bits/sec bandwidth. This too high bitrate consumer applications. Therefore, efficient compression techniques are essential order make applications feasible. In this Chapter, fundamentals technique first presented. They followed by brief overview few selected general purpose coding standards.
