摘要: The balance between the orbital and spin magnetic moments of Sm3+ in zero-moment ferromagnet Sm0.974Gd0.026Al2 has been studied using x-ray circular dichroism (XMCD) at Sm M4,5 edges. difference XMCD multiplet structure below above compensation point, Tcomp, demonstrates that exchange crystal-field interactions mix low-lying 7=7/2 excited state into f5 6H5/2 ground state. Sum-rule analysis temperature-dependent reveals an anomalous change to magnetic-moment ratio as net magnetization vanishes Tcomp. This behavior is ascribed role conduction electron-spin moment which couples parallel moment.
