摘要: BACKGROUND Working in health care carries the risk of transmission infected blood to patients by hospital workers and other personnel form occupational infections. Conscientious application standard precautions is main method used avoid needle stick injuries, contamination skin mucous membranes, cuts with sharp tools, inadequate disposal recapping needles. The aim this work was investigate Friuli Venezia Giulia, a region north-east Italy, enhancement carried out prevent situations biologic for workers, verify related laboratory analyses. METHODS Biological accidents occurring during years 2012-2013 departments oncology pediatric-obstetric surgery, intensive unit at Burlo Garofolo Children's Hospital Trieste (a large town Giulia) were reviewed, new panel tests introduced also detect human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), hepatitis C (HCV), B (HBV), aspartate transaminase immunoglobulin G. All submitted external quality assessment. RESULTS In total, 230 nosocomial events reported above-mentioned 2012-2013. There 158 2012, including 55 accidental injuries (34.81%), 59 splashes (37.34%), 44 instruments (27.84%). sustaining cut movement error surgery when appropriate procedure not followed or devices being assembled passed between doctors nurses. Most happened among physicians compared nurses; high percentage (34.81%) versus nurses (25.94%) due incorrect needles after use. No cases HCV, HBV, HIV identified. 2013, number biological decreased 61, comprising two (3.27%), 35 (57.37%), 25 contaminated (40.98%). subcutaneous abscesses scarring resulting from three 2012 (one which subject medicolegal proceedings) none 2013. Although our study population relatively small, we did statistically significant decrease (P<0.05, χ(2) test). CONCLUSION early experience maternal child institution Giulia region, safety protocol, centralized organization tests, improved assessment, introduction internal control G contributed work-related their complications, have potential result problems.
