摘要: The introduction of halothane to the clinical practice anaesthesia was a milestone in its development. Here an anaesthetic which easily controllable, potent, pleasant for patient, and with minimum deleterious side effects. Although there were individuals who voiced opinion that drug might have some potential hepatotoxic drawbacks chloroform, Raventos’ [1] early observations indicated no direct liver toxicity seen following experimental animals. However, within number years release halothane, plethora articles reporting unexplained unanticipated jaundice massive hepatic necrosis this [2, 3, 4]. These cases created considerable controversy, primarily more heat than light. rare sporadic. sufficient numbers reached spur National Halothane Study [5], one largest epidemiologic works ever performed. Unfortunately, study inconclusive. There appeared be non-statistically significant hint problem involving but it certainly not proven by large nonrandomized retrospective study.
