摘要: A 12-month-old American Miniature horse colt was presented to the Virginia Tech Veterinary Teaching Hospital with a 7-month history of progressive ataxia. Physical examination revealed head intention tremor, base-wide stance, and Necropsy findings were confined brain. There bilateral areas liquefactive necrosis cavitation corresponding dorsal accessory olivary lateral (accessory) cuneate nuclei. Cerebellar folia vermis thin. Microscopically, cerebellar cortex characterized by patchy Purkinje cell loss associated variable thinning molecular granule layers astrogliosis. Dorsal nuclei cavitated had mild glial response around their periphery. Additionally, focus neuropil vacuolization found in right putamen. These indicate presence neurodegenerative disorder centered, but not to, cerebellum its connections this colt.
