摘要: Abstract The conservation status of European temperate forests is overall unfavorable, and many associated species are listed in national or red-lists. A better understanding factors increasing survival probability red-listed needed for a more efficient effort. Here, we investigated the importance current forest cover, historical cover number soil climate variables on incidence richness Denmark. We considered eight major taxa separately (mammals, saproxylic beetles, butterflies, vascular plants four groups fungi), using mainly citizen science data from several mapping projects. Taxa were selected to represent important habitats properties (soil, dead wood, glades landscape context) differ dispersal potential trophic strategy. For all groups, presence was positively related with but - most 200 years ago an even predictor. intersection past deciduous used identify area continuous, lost new forest. Continuous strong predictors occurrence surprisingly butterflies hydnoid fungi, mammals, significantly, affected by coniferous area. positive effect species, suggest extinction debt at least 200 years, some areas hosting than old can sustain long run. Our results that priorities Denmark not protecting focus should be put conserving continuity. Furthermore, multi-taxa approach including wide array organism contrasting habitat affiliations, comprehensive requirements necessitate focused planning.
