摘要: Ponds holding industrial wastewater can quickly develop algal blooms, which in turn results high pH excursions. Such deterioration water quality is experienced Portland Aluminium’s retardation pond. A covering of floating aquatic plants, such as \IAzolla filiculoides\N and \ILemna minor\N, will reduce the light entering body, reducing production lowering levels. In case pond, initial installation a system has to be established under alkaline conditions fluoride concentrations (up 10 mg/L). The survival growth \IA. \IL. minor\N (pH levels 7–9.5) different (0–10 mg/L) were assessed laboratory field conditions. grew well short-term tests, but appeared unable compete with itinerant algae field. survived only media 7 0 mg/L very long-term experiments. was also observed inhibit Both species absorbed fluoride. Fluoride plants rose fell relation suggesting that readily desorbed absorption itself by passive mechanism.
