Growth variability and contrasting climatic responses of two Quercus macrolepis stands from Southern Albania

摘要: Contrasted response of Quercus macrolepis growth to climate conditions during summer months indicated increased climate-related control tree at high elevation site modulated by topographic characteristics and age. High climatic variability drought lead reduced mortality several species in Mediterranean regions, other parts the world. We have evaluated impact (temperature precipitation) stress (standardized precipitation index, SPI) on vegetation activity (normalized difference NDVI) radial (earlywood width, EW; latewood LW; tree-ring TRW) two macrolepis stands Southern Albania with different conditions. During spring, (May was coupled enhanced both locations (lower upper site). At lower site, were controlled mostly winter–spring accumulated for a mid-term period (6–12 months). Contrastingly, precipitation, temperature index short time scale (<5 months) main drivers growth. The highly significant contrasts it indicates seasonal shift responses this elevation. Therefore, is necessary stimulate adequate management strategies increase Q. resilience further possible impacts.
