摘要: Adhesion of one material to another--or "tack"--is crucial for many products, from adhesive tape post-it notes and cosmetics. A wide range materials is used, but achieving control over the conditions under which a sticky remains difficult. de Crevoisier et al. (page 1246) achieve surface bulk substrate adhesion desired, by utilizing melting phase transition their at 35 degrees Celsius, just below body temperature. Tack maximized in narrow temperature near transition, with possible applications grips sports rackets golf clubs. Discussion mechanisms affecting tack--wetting, roughness, viscoelasticity--illustrates delicate balance between factors reducing enhancing tack this system.
