Physicians view enhancing patient hopefulness as a critical aspect of cancer treatment, yet little is known about how the circumstances initial disclosure diagnosis affects this important psychosocial variable. The authors examined extent to which various forms physician are seen by patients more or less hopeful and favorable unfavorable. Methods. Statements describing diagnostic were generated from interviews with 10 physicians cancer. Results.
