摘要: Guerbet (β branched) alcohols of varying chain length even carbon numbers were synthesized by using single linear fatty ranging from 1-octanol to 1-dodecanol. All having fewer than 28 atoms and are liquid at 0 °C due β branching. Synthetic base oils prepared reacting commonly available unsaturated acids dicarboxylic with p-toluenesulfonic acid as a catalyst. These characterized physical tribological properties like viscosity, viscosity index, pour point, flash wear scar, weld load, coefficient friction etc. compared commercially 150 500 N oils.
