摘要: Background : Pregnancies among young women force girls to compromise education, resulting in low educational attainment with subsequent poverty and vulnerability. A pronounced focus is needed on contraceptive use, pregnancy, unsafe abortion women. Objective This study aims explore healthcare providers’ (HCPs) perceptions practices regarding counselling people. Design We conducted 27 in-depth interviews doctors midwives working seven health facilities central Uganda. Interviews were open-ended allowed the participant speak freely certain topics. used a topic guide cover areas topics of interest focusing post-abortion care (PAC) but also covering counselling. Transcripts transcribed verbatim data analysed using thematic analysis. Results The main theme, HCPs’ ambivalence providing sexually active people based two sub-themes describing challenges counselling: A) HCPs echo societal norms sexual practice people, while at same time our findings B) highlights opportunities from providers pragmatic approach Providers expressed self-identified lack skill, limited resources, inadequate support system successfully provide appropriate services They felt frustrated consultations, especially when meeting seeking PAC.
