摘要: Tropospheric ozone is increasing in many agricultural regions resulting decreased stomatal conductance and overall biomass of sensitive crop species. These physiological effects forecast changes evapotranspiration thus the terrestrial hydrological cycle, particularly intercontinental interiors. Soybean plots were fumigated with to achieve concentrations above ambient levels over five growing seasons open-air field conditions. Mean season increases ([O₃]) varied between from 22 37% background concentrations. The objective this experiment was examine future [O₃] on ecosystem energy fluxes water use. Elevated caused decreases canopy use by as much 15% high years soil removal. In addition, treatment resulted increased sensible heat flux all indicative day-time increase temperature up 0.7 °C.
