摘要: Pyruvate is an important metabolic intermediate, and also effective scavenger of hydrogen peroxide other reactive oxygen species (ROS). Pharmacological administration pyruvate has been shown to improve organ function in animal models oxidant-mediated cellular injury. However, relatively unstable aqueous solutions, which could limit the therapeutic potential this compound. Ethyl (EP), a simple derivative pyruvic acid, ROS scavenger, but seems exert pharmacological effects, such as suppression inflammation, are at least quantitatively different some instances qualitatively distinct from those exerted by anion. Treatment with EP survival and/or ameliorate dysfunction wide variety pre-clinical acute illnesses, severe sepsis, pancreatitis stroke. Using models, studies have demonstrated that more prolonged treatment can inflammatory bowel disease or slow rate growth malignant tumors. In clinical trial patients undergoing cardiac surgery, was be safe, it failed outcome. The true related compounds remains elucidated. review, biochemical mechanisms, might responsible for effects EP, discussed.
