摘要: Integrated management of water quality is critical for sustaining food production and achieving overall well-being a community. Further, understanding people's perceptions engagement can play an important role in security. The main aim this study was to investigate the perspectives community other stakeholders as how impacts on agriculture, livelihood within rural farming communities two dry zone districts Sri Lanka. adopted 'key informant interviews' methodology stakeholder collect primary data over period four months. interview contents were then examined using frequency matrix graphed Excel graphing tool. raw text also analysed understand broader patterns text. A fuzzy logic cognitive map (FCM) developed relationships between various concepts linkages provided by key informants. All informants concerned with drinking they consume used their preparation. Key representing indicated that use poor groundwater higher levels hardness has made growing crops difficult region. identified extensive ongoing agro-chemicals fertilisers major source pollution bodies both spatio-temporal scale. Based interviews, possible initiatives help improve surface qualities agricultural Lanka be categorised into themes, viz., provision filtering/treatment systems, reduction agro-chemical fertilisers, education support alternative options portable supplies. indicates informants' view waters' continued deterioration absence proper governance structure, majority farmers will have restricted access good meet daily needs, affect health elderly children area. should shared responsibility government region appropriate policy literacy at all are mandatory address future challenges.
