摘要: Father Cicero was born in 1844 Crato, at the time largest city Cariri Valley province (later state) of Ceara. While Ceara’s interior (commonly known as sertao or backlands) semi-arid and subject to devastating cyclical droughts, received more ample rains, ‘bread basket’ Ceara.1 Though he initially suspended his studies when father died 1862, three years later, assisted by godfather, a well-known Crato potentate, entered seminary Fortaleza, provincial capital. Ordained on 30 November 1870, 11 April 1872 took up residence Juazeiro, an insignificant settlement with dozen so modest houses small chapel. He developed reputation for being attentive priest who truly cared poor, having mystical bent.
