摘要: Purpose To examine the effect of locoregional treatment (LRT) primary tumor on survival in patients with Stage IV breast cancer at diagnosis. Methods and Materials The study cohort comprised 733 women referred to British Columbia Cancer Agency between 1996 2005 newly diagnosed clinical or pathologic M1 cancer. Tumor characteristics, overall (OS), progression-free were compared treated ( n = 378) without 355) LRT disease. Multivariable analysis was performed Cox regression modeling. Results median follow-up time 1.9 years. consisted surgery alone 67% patients, radiotherapy 22%, both 11%. used more commonly age p 0.009). Conclusion Locoregional disease is associated improved some Among those LRT, most favorable rates observed subsets young age, good performance status, estrogen receptor–positive disease, clear margins, distant limited one subsite, bone-only involvement, fewer than five metastatic lesions.
