摘要: Randomly packed particles in granular matter, ubiquitous nature and industry, usually defy simple predictions for the optimal amorphous packing density because jammed granules are strongly correlated. While mixing different shapes seems to be a further complication, we discovered simulations that binary rod–sphere mixtures harbor surprisingly dependence of volume fraction on mixture composition. This isochoric ideality covers entire composition range is experimentally validated by sphero-cylindrical TicTac sweets spherical beads: their joint random indeed independent segregation state. Isochoric occurs rod–shape includes unique aspect ratio, which universally maximizes densities suggests novel analog plastic crystal, namely with completely uncorrelated particle orientations.
