摘要: Aims: To determine the variation in processing of prostatic needle cores UK and to compare results with suggested guidelines. Methods: A standard questionnaire was sent 210 pathology departments enquiring about current practices. Results: One hundred thirty replies were received, which showed considerable methods. The number received for each case ranged from three 21, processed cassette varying one 10. Sixty per cent centres used no special embedding techniques, sections cut varied two 128, a median 12 case. Forty laboratories did not take spare slides immunochemistry. Conclusions: There is great UK. In particular, some process large do use techniques. At present there are established guidelines these specimens. Enhanced techniques may well increase sensitivity test but would workload costs department. view increasing specimens, consensus their optimum required.
