摘要: With the increasing industrial and biomedical applications of engineered nanomaterials (ENMs), concerns have been raised regarding increased risk exposure. Exposure to ENMs can potentially lead adverse health effects including cell toxicity. The plasma membrane, a lipid bilayer surrounding all cells, is first cellular entity that comes into contact with foreign particles, membrane damage by one potential mechanisms through which induce cytotoxicity. In recent years, significant effort has focused on elucidating complex interactions at particle–plasma interface. Such studies primarily relied models tease out what particle physicochemical properties might perturb structure function membrane. However, diversity made it difficult translate results obtained from model another ultimately live cells. This review summarizes current knowledge ENM–plasma based in monolayers, supported bilayers, vesicles. disruption each discussed detail role itself modulating described. addition, compared about Finally, some challenges toward improving enhancing environmental relevance are discussed.
